Charms of the Opalescent Light

Charms of the Opalescent Light are a harnessing of the virtues of Opal, replete with their glimmering and shining display of colors caught just right in the light, storehouses of luminosity set to play with the shimmering potentials of invisibility and glamour, playing not just on going unseen, but on using light to shape perception, to appear in any way that you want. These are for those that would glamour others and be enchanting; those who would accomplish all through glamour and allure; for those who would improve how others see them in the workplace - to grow sales, to be given more tips, to recieve promotions and awards; those who would enchant and snare lovers or benefactors; and for all who would use their cunning beneath the manipulation of perception to improve their lives. 

In his Natural History, Pliny described opal as one of the most powerful and prized gemstones:

“In them you shall see the flaming fire of the ruby, the resplendent purple of the amethyst, and the sea-green of the emerald, all shining together in incredible union.”

Opal is a complex stone glimmering across a vast body of folklore, though what really interests me are the medieval and european ascriptions of Opal being able to grant invisibility and the ability to change your appearance based in its extreme display of shining colors. This is not the commonly seen form of invisibility magic where the worker seeks to go unseen in the night, for staying hidden in the shadows - no, this is the magic for hiding on center stage, for playing the game of peacocks, for performing the show and being seen exactly as you wish to be - this is what is harnessed in the Charms of the Opalescent Light. In the game of the peacock, to act upon an agenda and bring it to fruition, you may at times need to appear different than you are, and it is here that we can go through Opal, to play upon its many colors and hidden lights to appear in any way, be it kinder or meaner; more attention grabbing than others; more - or less- memorable; better suited to perform a task or the opposite; and for when you want to shine above all others. Charms of the Opalescent Light are capable of making you be seen in any way that you want, of subverting the memory of those that you seek to affect, and for having influence on nearly any situation as the applications of these charms are as vast in capability as their heart-stones are in colors and light. 

Not much may be said of the creation of these charms as the nature of the pacts dictate secrecy, though at their centers sit each a heart-stone of Fire Opal surrounded by large amounts of the Haus of Ophidious X Manticores Den collaborative powder created for the Jewel at the Crossroads Takruts with a heavier focus of the extreme powers of charm found within the powder. Charm in this sense is the inherent quality of the powder to make people around you be more inclined to wanting to help you and to be kind to you while also paving the way for opportunities to manifest. Beyond this, the charms were manipulated with powders of the Sun and Venus mingled with the dusts of Mercury, Chameleon and Snake, and others roots, woods, stones, and bones left unnamed. The charms are also studded with several garnets, a stone important to a spirit that aided the creation of these charms, each hand gathered by Gary and myself from old river beds.

Each charm can be carried daily or as needed when you need to be seen in a particular way, when you need to go unseen behind the play of light, whether this be to accomplish feats of magic, to be unseen by divination, or in any other matter requiring glamour or invisibility. Each charm measures between 1-1.25 inches in diameter and arrives wrapped in a prepared cloth with instructions and suggestions for usage and feeding. Each charm also arrives with a 30ml glass bottle of Oil of the Opalescent Light which was utilized in the construction of the charms and for their feeding. The Oil may also be worked separately from the charm following the provided suggestions for usage.
