Oil of the Dreaming

The Oil of the Dreaming is based and built within an infused oil of freshly harvested Mugwort (Artemisia vulgaris), a plant known among some as the Mother of Herbs, renowned for its abilities to induce and stir dream, along with its prowess in provoking clairvoyance, offering succor and a helping hand to rites of divination. Sitting at the heart of this oil wrought from the world of the dreaming, a single hagstone fitted with white horsehair that was braided with hands bathed in oils of musk and mugwort, a mechanic that was inspired by and tinkered with following the work of a friend, Sfinga, who detailed an anti-nightmare charm on a blog that she co-hosts called WithCunningAndCommand. 

Swimming alonside unnamed materia in the mother bottle, nine Moonstones bathed in waters that recieved the light of the full moon and powders of Orris, a prepared skeleton key that screams to dream, feathers from a bird of the night - renowned for its abilities to induce witch-flight, a ladder of nine knots tied in red thread - each containing whispered charms of dreaming flight, root of the holiest Datura - a living fire embodied in the green world for the witch to access the worlds of Other, ash of Bat, foot of Crow, Mandrake - beloved ally to the witch , Henbane seedpod and seed - a cauldera where dreams brew and stir and spill into the waking, Blackthorn - the tree of the witches and the keeper of the hedge, and Myrrh - to preserve all that we might. All of this and more are found within the liquid body and breath of the Oil of the Dreaming.

Beyond this, Oil of the Dreaming is lightly scented through the combination of the infused Mugwort base oil and further additions of an essential oil blend that mimics the alluring and dream-inducing fragrance that pours from the up-turned cups that are the night-blooming flowers of Datura inoxia.

In practicality, Oil of the Dreaming is an oil for, well, dreaming. It is an enhancer of dreams, particularly those that are induced by the spirits around us, allowing us to better hear, retain, and understand their communications through dream. Beyond this, the oil can be worked to induce night-flight, allowing the witch or worker to commune and work with their familiar spirits (read as: those spirits known and familiarized unto the witch or worker) - or those unfamilar spirits - to affect change in the world. In adition to this, Oil of the Dreaming can also be worked to enhance all rites of an oracular or divinatory nature - boosting mediumship and the ability to perceive spirits. 

Provided with every 30ml bottle are basic instructions and suggestions for how to work with Oil of the Dreaming for rites of dreaming, divination, and night-flight, along with a provided rite for the creation of a physical charm to be kept near or above the bed to more readily accept messages from spirits through dream, to boost the abilities of night-flight, and for prowess and power in the world of dreams.
