Blackthorn Blasting Rod

A one-of-a-kind exemplar of a Blackthorn Blasting Rod, a rod employed in all rites of maleficia and cursing. This blasting rod was inspired by the Blackthorn blasting rods of folklore, most commonly found throughout the British Isles, which finds its employment being beneficial for all works of cursing and maleficia, but also in protecting the one who works with it, allowing them to subjugate malefic spirits. 

This Blackthorn Blasting Rod has been cured and stained with a mixture of bone-black, a black pigment produced by burning bone, from the horse vertebrae that was worked for the Night Mare Collection, along with ash of horsehair and bat, before being sealed in polyurethane. In a hole drilled down the center, the same powder of Horse, Toad, Bat, Mandragora, Master of the Woods, Fulgurite, and dust from a blacksmith’s anvil found in the Night Mare Collection has been filled in, along with other powders of maleficia, most notably Haus’ Cursing Powder. 

Haus’ Cursing Powder is a writhing mass of husks and ghosts, for the sending of those bringers of destruction and disease, for the loss and souring of luck and fortune, the closing of roads, the darkening of reputation, the destruction of health, and all manner of true cursing befitting the nature of this foul powder which eats its target from the inside out. Cursing powder is inspired by the American Hoodoo Goofer Dusts.

This powder was built in darkness, under the guidance of vampiric spirits capable of great malefic potentials. Blackthorn, cremation brick ash, cursed salt, dirt from a pear tree located in a cemetery, Devil's Claw root, Datura stramonium seed, insect husks, mausoleum wall pieces, poppy seed, rattlesnake head, roasted rat, sulphur, and Valerian root, among other materia was buried at the base of a tree in a cemetery for 3 nights before it was exhumed, powdered, and fed. 

After allowing the powder to sit for several days in a sealed jar, I took the powder out to prepare it for bottling only to be a bit shaken by several moths - a vampiric creature in European folklore -  jumping out of the powder and flying about briefly before they flitted off. I took this as the final omen of completion for this well-made powder.

Beyond the powders, the blasting rod is capped in copper and bears a crow’s foot that has been embedded into the wood on one end, along with several Blackthorn thorns. The Blackthorn Blasting Rod measures roughly 31 inches long. 

The Blackthorn Blasting Rod arrives with a bottle of Night Mare Oil and detailed instructions and suggestions for use.
